Multi Stage Pumps

Multi Stage Pumps

The principle of a multistage pump is fairly similar. Imagine a hollow tube with fans placed along the inside of it. This is similar to the operating principle of a multistage pump. Each “fan” is known as a “stage” and there are several stages stacked on top of each other. The fans, or “Impellors” as they are known all spin on a common shaft connected to the electric motor. Water goes in the bottom and is pushed out of the first stage, it then moves through the second stage where its pressure is increased and then onto the third stage…till it exits the top stage at a very high pressure. The more “stages” the higher the pressure. The bigger the diameter of the impellor, the more flow the water will have.
